What is it?
The Training Institute offers a variety of professional development, certification, and training programs that cover an array of topics useful to outdoor professionals, volunteers, and enthusiasts. Depending on the certification level and breadth of the topic, trainings range from half day skills-based naturalist training and day or weekend sessions, to week long certifications. The Training Institute offers trainings on Naturalist topics such as ornithology, ethnobotany, and tracking. Outdoor skills trainings offered include survival skills and restoration, and certification programs featured are first aid/CPR, Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG), and California Naturalists.

Who is it for?
The Training Institute is open to CNC program participants, alumni, volunteers, community partners, staff, and the general public. Many of the trainings offered are stand alone so individuals may choose to attend those that most interest or benefit them. Trainings offered as part of the Institute are an excellent opportunity to gain professional development, certifications, and skills for use in the outdoor field.

What do I need to bring?
Once you have registered for a course you will receive an email that tells you the equipment that we provide and the equipment and clothing that you will want to bring.

Where do I meet my instructors on the day of the class?
Your confirmation email will tell you where you will meet your instructors along with the class location. In many cases, these are the same place.

Can I request a private training?
Yes, private and custom training courses are available. Email training@communitynatureconnection.org for more information.

Are there any discounts available?
Coupon codes are available for CNC alumni, volunteers, and community partners. Email training@communitynatureconnection.org for more information.

Will courses be taught in Spanish?
Yes, some courses will be taught in Spanish (upon availability). If you wish to request a particular course or another language, email training@communitynatureconnection.org for more information.

Will accommodations be made for people with disabilities?
Reasonable accommodations will be made to afford participants with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate. If a participant believes that accommodations are necessary, they should reach out training@communitynatureconnection.org.

Will photos be taken during training?
During the training, photographs and video may be taken. CNC and its partners may use photographs and videos in published marketing materials and/or promotional items. Please advise CNC if you do not want a likeness of you and/or your participant to be used for CNC and it's partner's publications.
