About the Event

To better prepare for our trip, we are asking participants to take 5 mins to read the following information.

Meet up location: Main Parking Lot of Los Angeles River Center & Gardens (570 W Ave 26, Los Angeles, CA 90065, USA) at 8:30am.

CNC staff will assist community members to check-in and fill out Wavier & Photo Release Form prior to boarding the bus. The bus ride will take about 1 hour, depending on traffic, to reach Temescal Gateway Park. We will begin with a Land Acknowledgement during the opening circle. We will stroll along the Temescal Waterfall Trail Hike, which is an Out-and-Back trail, meaning it follows a single trail to an end point and then returns along the same route. It consists of 2 miles with a 346ft elevation with a significant amount of shade. We will also host an interactive workshop about outdoor skills. At around 2:00pm, everyone will gather to end our visit with a closing circle, before boarding the bus.

The average temperature at Temescal Gateway Park during this time of the year is approximately 63° during the day (subject to change), so layer up with thin breathable layers that can easily be removed or added (think layers like in onions!). We will spend 8:30am- 3:30pm (about 8 hours) together, so make sure to bring a mask to wear on the bus (required), enough water, a nice filling lunch, backpack to carry your belongings, a sweater to use once temperatures lower, and curiosity. Please make sure to arrive at the LA River Center & Gardens parking lot on time because the bus will not wait; and in honor of people's time, we would love to follow our schedule accordingly.

Transit to Trails programming is FREE and family-friendly.

Reminders: We will be strolling through Temescal Gateway Park, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. We are expecting the day to be partly sunny, so bring proper attire and/or products to protect your skin.

If you need any access needs (ways that we can help you have a safe and enjoyable experience) or need to communicate with CNC staff about our Transit to Trails, please reach out to our Program Coordinators, kya@communitynatureconnection.org or jenna@communitynatureconnection.org.
