About the Event

The Emerging Naturalists are invited on an outdoor recreational field trip to King Gillette Ranch.

Schedule for the day

8:30am - 9:15am: Introduction / Opening Circle

9:15am - Bus Departs from Chinatown Branch Library**

10:15am - 10:30am: Arrive at King Gillette Ranch (traffic pending)

10:30am - 10:45am: Site Orientation

10:45am - 11:30am: Explore Visitor Center

11:30am - 12:00pm: Lunch at Oak Grove

12:00pm - 1:15pm: Principles of Interpretation with Ranger Guest Speaker

1:15pm - 2:30pm: Inspiration Point Hike

2:30-2:50pm: Visit Gift Shop & Bathroom Break

2:50-3:20pm: Closing Circle & Head to Bus

3:25pm: Bus departs King Gillette Ranch

4:55pm Bus Arrives back to Chinatown Branch Library** (traffic pending)

For the Inspiration Point hike, the terrain will be mostly made up of a dirt and uneven path; the hike will consist of approximately 1.5 miles with inclines and declines, a 246ft elevation. Please wear comfortable close-toed shoes for walking.

COVID POLICY: Masks are required at all times while indoors or on the bus. Masks are encouraged at all times during the program. What to bring: plenty of water, packed lunch/ snacks, your journal, a pen, your phone with the inaturalist app, signed permission slips. What to wear: comfortable shoes for walking, dress in layers, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeves, long pants).
