About the Event
To better prepare for our trip, we are asking participants to take 5 mins to read the following information.
Meet up location: West Gate Parking Lot at Vista Hermosa Natural Park (100 N Toluca St, Los Angeles, CA 90026) at 8:30am.
CNC staff will assist community members to check-in and fill out Wavier & Photo Release Form prior to boarding the bus. The bus ride will take about 1 hour, depending on traffic, to reach Temescal Gateway Park. We will begin with a Land Acknowledgement during the opening circle. Folks are invited to participate in the 3.0 mile roundtrip hike to the waterfall with a 346ft elevation, strollers are not accessible on this trail. Folks can also relax and enjoy the grassy lawn with a nature-based art activity where we will collect plant material to create cool sun art (all materials will be provided). At around 2:00pm, everyone will gather to end our visit with a closing circle, before boarding the bus.
The average temperature at Temescal Gateway Park during this time of the year is approximately 65° during the day (subject to change), so layer up with thin breathable layers that can easily be removed or added (think layers like in onions!). We will spend 8:30am- 4:00pm (about 8.5 hours) together, so make sure to bring enough water, a nice filling lunch, backpack to carry your belongings, a sweater to use once temperatures lower, and curiosity for the ocean. Please make sure to arrive at the West Gate Parking Lot at Vista Hermosa Natural Park on time (5-10 mins early) because the bus will not wait; and in honor of people's time, we would love to follow our schedule accordingly.
Transit to Trails programming is FREE and family-friendly.
Reminders: We will be strolling through Temescal Gateway Park, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. We are expecting the day to be partly sunny, so bring proper attire and/or products to protect your skin.
If you need any access needs (ways that we can help you have a safe and enjoyable experience) or need to communicate with CNC staff about our Transit to Trails, please reach out to our Program Coordinators, kya@communitynatureconnection.org or javier@communitynatureconnection.org.
