About the Event
This training will delve into the root causes of racism, sexism, colonialism, ecological collapse and more. Together, we will explore both the interpersonal as well as structural changes necessary for building a world that honors ecology, true democracy and self-determination for all.
Sabrina Melendez (they/them) is a Puerto Rican decolonial anthropologist, activist and artist. They co-founded the Autonomous University of Political Education, a word-of-mouth educational institution for understanding structural racism, sexism, colonialism, ecological collapse, and capitalism, as well as for building democratic, horizontal, and ecological systems for a just future. Sabrina is the director of Camp Outright, a summer camp for queer and trans youth, and has worked on a variety of social, economic, and ecological justice initiatives with organizations such as the Sierra Student Coalition, VPIRG, Our Climate, MariaFund, Camp Uprise, Vermont Student Power Network, and the Bennington Environmental Action Group.
