Community Nature Connection stands in solidarity with immigrant students, youth, children, workers, elders, and families who are the heart of the communities that we have the honor to work alongside.
We condemn the actions of ICE who have been roaming our streets, racially profiling us and kidnapping community members without warning or due process. The ICE raids that are being conducted throughout countless communities across the County of Los Angeles are meant to terrorize and alienate working class communities of color, immigrant or natural-born.
Community Nature Connection supports our community by upholding our mission to increase access to nature for communities impacted by systems of injustice and oppression. By centering ‘radical care and wellness,’ we disrupt their quest to intimidate us. Collective care illuminates a new path that moves away from exploitative and extractive institutions, reduces alienation while increasing solidarity, and shifts our way of being from fear and scarcity to openness, empathy, and abundance. Please join us in strengthening the collective care around our working-class community of immigrants and their families by supporting the work of sister organizations like: CHIRLA, CARECEN, Proyecto Pastoral, and LIFT Los Angeles.
Please know we are doing everything in our power to create safe spaces for the public and youth leaders who are attending our nature education and workforce development programs and events. We are practicing collective care by allying with sister organizations, healthcare providers, and small businesses that conduct direct aid and provide services to the immigrant community, and the wider community impacted by ICE raids. We support non-violent advocacy actions that call for 1) an immediate stoppage to the practice of removal, 2) a return of individuals being held to their families and communities, 3) military withdrawal, and 4) to answer community concerns and questions about federal practices and policies of intimidation.
Community Nature Connection will continue to show up for our communities in a responsive
manner with community-based programs and resources
Nature gives us breath and re-energizes our spirit to fight another day.
In solidarity and collective care,
Community Nature Connection Staff + Board
